22

When I first began experimenting with prose forms, excited over the publication of an issue of the Seneca Review (Vol. XXX, No. 1) devoted to the lyric essay, I wrote "22." It seems as if I wrote this piece a long, long time ago--maybe because the events related in the piece seem so far removed from me. In any event, there is a certain joy in seeing this, a piece which has been so long sequestered, in print. You may read it in the latest Coconut. (The bio note explains a little bit about the background of "22.")
