wow!! and how quick was that!!! congrats jenny!
congrats! could you perhaps email me (csperez06 at gmail dot com) -- i want to ask you a question ;)cs
a friend of mine used "the body" in a creative writing class she taught last fall. i was sitting in on it and have to say the couple of pages got me hooked. i read the whole thing and was blown away by the book, thanks so much for that. :-)
I had to read your text in a graduate class I am taking. My question (and it is a serious one...I am not trying to disparage your work in the least) is do you ever worry that the extreme style and form of your book diminish its content. It is clearly a serious text with something to say, and I understand that the content is impossible to separate from the style, but I worry when texts become so abstract that they become difficult to access in any real meaningful ways. Again, I find your work to be serious and certainly worthy of being read, but I am just interested if this was an issue that is of concern to you or not.
Dear Anon, thank you for your thoughtful question. When I was writing The Body, it seemed to me that the best way to say what it was that I was trying to say could only be achieved in the form that the book is in. At the time, I was only worried about me and my message. I never thought it would be read. Thank you.
