What is your working title of your book?

Pocket Guide to another Earth

Where did the idea come from for the book?

The book explores those sudden transformative moments in our lives when the world we think we know seems unlike the one around us.

What genre does your book fall under? 

Poetry

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?


I do most things in life with Robert Downey Jr. in mind. Perhaps he could take it on the road as a one-man show?

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

This book contains 32 lyric, narrative, and lyrically narrative poems and a couple of anagrams.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? 

Several small presses are fighting over it in my mind.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? 

5 years.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I would compare it unfavorably to Jennifer Grotz’s Cusp and anything by Geoffrey Hill.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

My surprising move to the Mississippi Delta three years ago has informed almost everything I’ve done.

What else about your book might pique the reader's interest?

One section of the book deals with Edgar Allan Poe, who, apparently is perched on a branch of my family tree.
